★★★★★

Having been recommended this book by a friend, I was captivated by this novel that kept me hooked until the very last sentence, which was surprising as I would not consider myself as a fan of reading books of this nature. The storyline was surprisingly gripping, whether that be due to the horror genre that kept you on edge throughout or just the personality of multiple excellently thought of characters that are so relatable to modern day life and people. On the other hand I believe 'Promised Land Lane' creates a timeline of events that are sickeningly emotional and heart wrenching, but at times humorous and realistic making it easier for the reader to connect to the characters and get more involved with the story. Personally, I would recommend this book to anybody and I look forward to reading the next edition in Marcus Brown's Career.

★★★★★ What a page turner.

Character descriptions brought them to life. Humour and horror in a story that flowed effortlessly. Will look for more from this author.

★★★★★ Gripping & Thrilling

Just finished reading this amazing book from Marcus Brown. I was shocked to see that this was his first book. The book had me gripped from start to finish, amusing in parts and frightening also. Great story line, easy to follow and keeps you wanting more every page. Once you start reading it you cant put it down and the ending has left me wanting more. Will definitely be looking for more books from this author in the future.

★★★★★ An excellent read.

Once I started reading Promise Land Lane I couldn't put it down. The Prologue had me hooked from the first page. I had so many questions that I had to keep on reading to find out the answers, and I wasn't disappointed, The entire book was very well written and there was humour as well as horror. I could visualise each character and the setting that the story takes place in. There are plenty of twists and turns and I am usually very good at predicting what the endings going to be but this took me completely by surprise. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
